Getting started
- Point your phone camera at the card on your booth. Tap the link that appears.
- Check the sponsor name and booth number shown are yours. If not, you have the wrong card.
- Enter your name and the setup PIN. The PIN is printed on the panel folded underneath the card.
- Read the short notice about handling attendee data and tap to accept.
- Allow camera access when your phone asks.
Your name and the PIN are asked once on each phone. You will not be asked again.
Put it on your home screen first
If you want a shortcut that opens like an app, add it to your home screen before you start scanning, then open the shortcut and scan the booth card from there.
Adding the shortcut afterwards counts as a second device against your booth's allowance, because your phone keeps the shortcut and the browser completely separate. Doing it first avoids using up two.
iPhone: Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
Android: the browser menu, then Add to Home screen or Install.
Scanning
Point the camera at the QR code on the attendee's badge. You will get a full-screen confirmation and a sound:
- Lead captured — saved.
- Captured — saved, but this badge is not in the attendee list yet. It is not a problem; the organiser matches it up later.
- Already captured — you have scanned this person before. You can add another note.
- Not a badge — that QR code is something else.
After a capture you can add notes and a Hot / Warm / Cold rating, plus any interest tags offered for this event, or tap Skip and carry straight on to the next person.
When connected, the attendee’s first name appears after a successful upload to help you check the badge. It is not saved on your phone. Without a connection, or if the name is unavailable, the capture still works and shows a general confirmation. If the attendee has declined sharing, a message tells you their details will be withheld.
Correct a wrong badge
On the notes screen for a new capture, tap Undo scan if you scanned the wrong badge. Undo waits for a connection if needed. Keep the app open until the pending indicator clears. If the app says it is too late, or someone else has already scanned the badge at your booth, ask the organiser for help. Repeat captures cannot be undone.
Things that will happen
- No signal at the booth
- Keep scanning. Leads are saved on the phone and upload by themselves when signal returns. A small note shows how many are waiting. Nothing is lost.
- You close the browser, or the phone locks
- Open the shortcut again, or rescan the booth card. Everything is still there.
- You use a different browser or clear its saved data
- Scan the booth card and enter the setup PIN again. Contact the organiser if the device has been removed or you cannot start scanning.
- You scan the same person twice
- No duplicate is created. Add another note if you want; it is added to the first one.
- A badge will not scan
- Tap Enter ID manually and type the number printed on the badge.
- "Hourly limit reached"
- Your booth and your device have hourly new-lead limits. Scanning pauses when either allowance is used. Rescanning people you have already captured still works. Queued leads stay on your device and retry when the allowance is available. Follow the wait time shown on your screen. Contact the organiser if you need help.
- "Device limit reached"
- Your booth's allowance of scanning devices is in use. Contact the event organiser — they can free one up or add more.
- "Enrolment paused"
- Too many incorrect PINs. If it mentions this phone, wait a few minutes. If it mentions the booth, find the organiser.
Using the leads afterwards
The organiser sends your leads after the event, together with the conditions they are provided under. In short: use them for follow-up connected to this event, respect any request to be removed, do not pass them to anyone else, and delete them when you no longer need them for that follow-up.
Only scan a badge with the attendee there and aware you are capturing their details.
Still stuck?
Find event staff at the registration desk. It helps to tell them your booth number and exactly what the screen says.
